When it comes to building an online presence, being just another face in the crowd simply won’t cut it, and Kate Hall knows that better than anyone. Back in Feb I had the awesome opportunity to work with Kate on her branding session, and I knew from the outset that it was going to be fun, different, and result in images that would stand out online. Kate is a visionary brand and web designer known for working with go-getters, innovators, and those who think outside the box, and when that’s your day job it’s important to walk your talk. Kate’s shoot not only showcased her unique brand personality and style, but also highlighted the importance of high-quality visuals for business growth – something I am always banging on about.

The Killer Combo of Branding Photos and Videos

Imagine you’re about to launch a new business, revamp your existing brand, or simply want to inject new life into your digital presence. What would be your first step? For entrepreneurs like Kate who know the importance of standing out online in a unique and authentic way, it begins with nailing that brand essence through some killer photos and videos.

Once I got to know Kate, I wanted to make sure every aspect of the shoot reflected her creativity and quirky personality, and I think we nailed the brief. We rented a gorgeous styled home in Yarraville which was the perfect backdrop for a variety of shots including close-ups, lifestyle images and details. Together, they showcase the essence of Kate’s brand and tell her story in a way that no one else could replicate.

But we didn’t stop at photos. Kate also used her shoot as an opportunity to capture video footage (shot on the iPhone by Justine O) to use in her social media marketing. This killer combo of images and videos is crucial in today’s market, as together they help grab the attention of your audience and boost your online visibility and interaction.

The Benefits of Visual Content

There are a number of ways great visual content (videos and photos) creates business growth, but if I had to cull it to just a few:

  1. Authentic Connection: Right now, the online market is screaming out for authenticity. Our potential clients are looking to connect with people that ‘get’ them and share the same values and desires. The content we captured on Kate’s shoot gives her audience a real feel for what her brand stands for, and will attract clients much quicker than other brands lacking the same.
  2. Increased Engagement: Videos and high-quality images are much more likely to be shared and commented on, increasing engagement in an impactful way. Showcasing images that reflect who we are is like inviting people into your home and saying, “Come check out what we’re all about!” I don’t know about you but looking at Kate’s photos, I would join her for a drink and chat any day.
  3. Versatility Galore: The stack of content we captured on Kate’s shoot will last for a long time. With the variety I capture on my Signature Sessions, many of my clients can use their content for well over 12 months if not multiple years without the fear of boring their audience with the same shots over and over again. Visual content can also be repurposed across various platforms – from websites and newsletters to all forms of social media. Having authentic, consistent, unique visuals creates a seamless brand image that your audience will recognise and love.
  4. Elevated Brand Perception: Quality visuals elevate a brand’s perceived value, making it appear more professional and trustworthy. And this is crucial for converting viewers into customers. Ever been to a website with dodgy photos and thought “wow, this person must really produce good work because her online presence is so high quality”? Nope, me neither.

Dare to Be Different

Kate lives by the rule that ‘ordinary isn’t an option,’ and that’s why nailing her branding visuals was so important. Branding is so much more than just having a flashy logo or stunning website – it’s about creating a digital presence that sends a unique message about who you are, one that resonates with your ideal clients.

So whether you’re just starting out, a seasoned entrepreneur, or somewhere in between, remember that your visual identity is your first interaction with the outside world. Make it count! Just like a classic Negroni wouldn’t be complete without Campari, your brand isn’t complete without its visual essence.

Make sure your business is not just seen, but remembered.
