I was absolutely devastated to learn earlier this month that Nicole Lanyon – an incredible women – finally lost her battle with cancer.

Nic was a shining light.  I met her in 2014 just as I was starting down the path of creating personal branding images for women. I was building my portfolio and I mentioned to my assistant at that time, Melinda, that I would love to find an inspiring woman that I could take photos for, someone local that needed profile shots so it would help both of us.  Straight away she said to me I should meet her friend Nicole.

Nicole’s world was turned upside down when at the age of 38 she was diagnosed with breast cancer.  After a long battle and a mastectomy she managed to pull through, and with her health back decided she created a line of feminine bras to help lift women’s self-image post-surgery, and to give them back their confidence – a gap that had not been filled in the market.

Unfortunately Nic’s battle with cancer never fully ended, and this month it finally won her over.  She has left a world of heartbreak behind with everyone who knew and loved her (and there are so many), including her beautiful daughter Gretta who always made her mum so proud, and will continue to.

I didn’t get to spend as much time with Nic as I would’ve liked to, but whenever I saw her she had the most beautiful smile on her face and a positive air about her.  She dealt with a lot of crap over the last few years so I’m sure she had her moments and they weren’t all smiles, but in public she was always so strong.

Nic thanks for the moments you gave me, and your inspirational spirit which has touched not just me but so many people.

Below are a few photos from a mother and daughter shoot I did with Nic and Gretta in July 2016.
